Job Summary

We are looking for a Lathe Operator for evening and/or weekend shifts. As a Machinist, successful candidates will produce precision-machined products from raw material using computer-controlled lathes and other equipment for Cobalt customers.

The essential function of this position is to work within standard machining concepts, practices and procedures. Read plans and set-up instructions. Work within a team environment under the supervision of a lead machinist to constantly produce high-quality parts at an efficient pace.


Typical Duties/Responsibilities

  • Read set-up instructions, plans and other technical information;
  • Prepare lathes and other equipment for assigned operations;
  • Use appropriate measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, plug gauges, etc.;
  • Maintain a clean work environment at all times;
  • Work within applicable safety requirements;
  • Complete all paperwork within Cobalt and AS9100 specification;
  • Knowledge and understanding of proper methods;
  • A working understanding of material specifications;
  • Ability to load material and tools according to instructions;
  • Ability to monitor equipment progress per operation;
  • Move parts to next operation when completed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to set-up and run CNC Lathe milling machines.
  • Ability to setup and understand Dual Flow (multi-channel) program structure is a plus.
  • Experience with Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls is a plus
  • Ability to debug, edit running G-code
  • Competency in inspection and reading blueprints
  • Team player, good communication skills and deadline oriented


Education and Experience

  • Requires High School or GED education
  • Requires ability to work cooperatively and/or civilly with all employees
  • Ability to follow step-by-step instructions
  • Strong technical skill with shop equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret Mechanical/Assembly drawings & specifications
  • Ability to complete assigned work within deadlines
  • Understanding of machining/manufacturing principles
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision
  • Previous experience in manufacturing work preferred.


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying materials.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs on occasion.

Salary & Benefits

Salary Range - $20/hr to $30.00/hr  - Depending on Experience (DOE)
